Embora as? Categorias bicas?

- Leitura clara.

Estou tentando aprender a fazer forex trading.

The author explains how she had to cancell lunch because of a trade. The book goes on about self discipline and emotions, which is very important but only if you are a new trader. I think this book really lacks material.
I mean if you are a new trader then this book is a must. However, if you are already trading and looking to improve your skills and gain more insight into technical analysis tools; then this is not for you. Even the strategies are quite simple.
It has the following strategies:
Breakout fading - Using resistance and support levels
Breakout trading - Using bollinger and triangle formations.
News Trading Strategy - No comment
Carry trade - Trading in favour of Intrest rate return.
There is a very breif explanation of MACD, RSI and Stochastics.
This is not a book that will teach you a new and different trading style. It will rather introduce you to the concept of a trading strategy and pave the way for further reading. All you need is a very basic knowledge to understand eveything that she is talking about. You just need to know about candlesticks before reading this book.

David Bean came up with the idea of selling the Euro contract at 5 PM open of futures trading, 24-tick stoploss from entry, close open position at 11 PM. The only explanation given relates to convenience of evening trading for those in the U. S. who work during the day. (Note: with an unmentioned improvement you could leave it running unattended and be watching TV and have a sound notify you when you're either stopped out or it's closing time but alerts or placing symbols on the chart would require additional programming you'd have to do yourself.)
There is no mention of why the Euro was chosen. The author requires you BUY his 2007 article that hopefully explains the theory. He says he can't include the article itself, for copyright reasons; but he surely could summarize the basis for this simplistic trading strategy in a paragraph. The. EL code fragments for even the most complex tweaked strategies take less than half a page of text so no need to buy them from author's website (where he says the needed "GET TIME" coding is provided); he rightly suggests you're better off typing it in (and of course finding the TIME function yourself) because then you might understand how it all works and then how you might try to improve on it (like maybe use a different currency, different class of instrument, or different times).
The code fragments provided are not "plug and play" even if you have name-brand Tradestation (R) because Mr. Bean does not include the EL function call that would get the correct times no matter what time zone you are in. Changing the book's "EC" to "6E" is the least of the needed effort to create a working strategy. (If you use a platform that claims "compatibilty" with EasyLanguage, good luck with that.) If you email Sunny Harris she'll probably tell you how to code in the right time even if you haven't yet bought her books.
Many observers have noted the tendency of markets to either reverse or accelerate at certain times of day as trading "rotates" around the globe during each trading week. But, as Mr. Bean notes here, trading U. S. evening time is usually thin. Therefore, the best average profits of
5+ or 8+ ticks (from winners and losers combined in two provided tweaks of strategy #1) might easily be eaten up, or overwhelmed, by the bid/ask spread plus all the Tradestation (R) costs, latter one of the most expensive trading platforms in wide use.
Paraphrasing Magee & Edwards (1948): The entire basis of technical analysis is the axiom that past behavior can be used to deduce likely future. But Mr. Bean here doesn't care if the Euro was whipsawing up or down 5% or it was flat all day long in the prior trading day. The stochastic tweak looks at just one bar. That's not technical analysis per se; time is a fundamental, not a technical, in brief. By having a strategy that acts the same regardless of what the Euro did in the prior trading day, he is requiring anyone interested in the concept to do a lot of back-testing of alternative currencies, minimum. Maybe that's mentioned in the 2007 article. The most obvious question is this: Why did he choose the Euro and not the Yen? That question is very important because 5 PM is exactly when trading in Tokyo opens, with Europe sleeping. That "secret" is not revealed you have to buy his article to find out if it was even considered.
I read the entire book in less time than it took to arrange the return and drop it off with UPS. The reviewer who wrote that this book is giving away some kind of valuable secret is eerily similar in tone to the strong hyping voice of the author. Secret, shmecret. Baloney! It's a pump and dump. As Bean says at least five times in the book itself, this idea is no secret because it was published four years ago in 2007.
The author mentions Python and Euro Surge as proprietary trading systems sold by his company. They are other systems he wrote which also auto-trade the Euro future, albeit during NYSE hours. It would be nice to know how the returns from this public-domain "one-time $35 DIY Euro system" compare to Mr. Bean's proprietary Euro strategies that used to cost me $25/month in licensing fees to auto-trade at OpenECry. If you have this book, the comparative returns (in apples-to-apples form) can be found for free by looking them up as if you were considering subscribing to their proprietary auto-trading systems: Python, Euro Surge, etc.
P. S. I admit to being angry over the unmerited hype when first writing this review yesterday. After sleeping on it I see value here for people who would like to build their own automated trading strategy. There are very few useful books on this niche subject where the audience would be novice programmers of trading systems. This book does a good job of explaining the evolution of a trading system to improve returns. Simply put, this book would be an excellent resource for filling the huge gap between, say, New Trading Systems and Methods (Wiley Trading) and TradeStation Made Easy. Using EasyLanguage to Build Profits with the World's Most Popular Trading Software (Wiley Trading). If you are unfamiliar with those other books, you might as well take a pass on this one.

The book is well-written and its nice structure and intuitive approach very attractive. However, it will lead you down the wrong path.
As folks in the quantitative portfolio management world have discovered that if the information coefficients are low, the variability in the results is too large for practical use. The three key ingredients necessary for the book's approach to work: market-impact estimates, volatility forecasts and covariance estimates for the trade list all have high standard-errors.
Volume variability and decay of temporary market-impact are very important and not adequately discussed.
I have seen a number of trading desks put a whole infrastructure based on this approach. The sad part is the managers never understood the weaknesses of this approach. The results are very mediocre and in some-ways even worse than what the same desks would achieve before. And they continue to plod along trying to apply everything they learned while doing statistical arbitrage to this problem. Three basic problems: Law of large numbers is rarely available, you have to complete the trade most times and you do not get to choose the stocks you trade.
Also traditional statistical arbitrage techniques are not a source of alpha anymore. Theses inefficiencies are well understood and have been exploited mostly. (I know some folks are going to point to Renaissance etc. but from what I know their alpha persists because of very different reasons)
A better way is to combine statistics/econometrics and expert-systems. The results are much better.

The author presents four very useful tools for trading stocks, commodities, or currencies. These are: two time-frame momentum indicators, Elliott waves, Fibonacci with price, and Fibonacci with time. You can use these four tools as a discretionary trading system, but the Fibonacci discussion is especially valuable in and of itself. The author has been around 20 years providing trading advice - an indication of some quality.
I appreciate that the author isn't trying to hard sell his software and newsletter. You can apply the ideas in the book without buying anything more from the author! That is an honest touch that is appreciated. Still the author sells a software package that make things slightly easier, I would imagine. UPDATE: Many people comment negatively that the book is just a sales pitch for the software. Since the book discloses all the four tools, I think such a statement is untrue. However, some of the tool will require you to print out the charts and do manual calculations if you don't have his software.
The style of the text can be annoying at times; it is repetitive and has too many comments about not-so-good advisors. (No need to mention unless the author is brave enough to name them.) It would have been good if the author told the reader how this book compares to his earlier book Dynamic Trading: Dynamic Concepts in Time, Price & Pattern Analysis With Practical Strategies for Traders & Investors. My take is that the current book introduces the two time-frame momentum and streamlines the other information on Elliott and Fibonacci, but it would have been useful to get this information from the author. Is the previous book superseded in his mind or does it still have any value?
All positive reviewers (13 of them at the time of writing) have only reviewed this sole book. Clearly the author has a fan club. Irrespective, I can recommend the book. I am not part of the fan club and I try to give out as many one star and five star reviews.

The fabric is pellon. It folds, not rolls like 34;professional34; playmats do. I'm sure paint will start falling, and it can certainly not take a soak of any heavy staining liquid.
It is a great product with anyone with a kid that wants to learn Pokemon TCG (like myself) because both sides are mirrored (very important if you are teaching a 3 year old) The printing is not of a great quality and it is offset in several places.
EDIT: 2 years later! bumping it to 5 stars. Same 34;defects34; are there. But it has endured the test of time. Great mat for newcomers and kids.

Bought a box of these from MTGbiz versus the other sellers. I read some of the feedback from other buyers and saw that many suspected that their boxes had been opened, weighed and resealed with the better packs removed.
I e-mailed MTGbiz to ask about whether or not their boxes were factory sealed and they replied back a day later that yes, their packs are factory sealed and brand new. I was still suspicious and considered canceling my order, but none of my local card shops carry this booster box anymore.
When I opened the box I saw that yes, the box was sealed in the plastic wrap with Poké balls on it - my box was genuine.
I opened the cards and on my 6th pack ended up pulled a Mewtwo EX Full Art - the EXACT card I wanted! I was thrilled. I got three other EX cards in my box and LOTS of holo rares - all in all very happy.
This is a game of luck - you can't expect your booster box to be full of rares, but if you get a box from another seller that isn't sealed or the plastic wrap doesn't have the Pokémon logo on it - return it and report the seller. The rarer packs weigh slightly more due to the foil in the cards. Some sellers weigh the packs, take out the heaviest, and reseal the boxes with other weighed packs and sell them as new and sealed. If you decide to open these packs you will have very poor draws.
If you'd like to see my opening of this exact box, just find my YouTube channel - search OrneryPossum.
I hope this information helps - I'm giving a five star review because I got the single best and rarest card from this set and couldn't be happier!

ToonTown: Great ONLINE game for Kids as well as Adults
By Marty R. Ward - March 30, 2006

I have been playing ToonTown Online for close to 2 years now. A co-worker got me hooked on it after her child got her hooked on it after seeing a commerical for it on The Disney Channel. Yes, it is an online game (hence the name ToonTown Online) and it very specifically indicates on the packaging that a recurring fee is necessary to play it after the initial 2 month game time has expired. The game is downloadable from the ToonTown website and the retail version is NOT a necessity to have. The game is a HUGE download and the CD is great to have if you have dial-up internet access like I do.
As for play value, it is great. I have 2 active toons (you can have 6) on my account that I play on a regular basis. Yes, it is geared towards kids but many of the players I encounter are adults that were hooked by their children. It is safe for kids as there are pre-made phrases that you use for your toon to communicate with other toons. There is the option for real-life players to "code" with each other so they can speak freely with each other. Even with the free speech being available, it is heavily filtered for bad language. I have tested many different "bad" words in various spellings and even inserted spaces and other characters to attempt to get it to let it come across but it won't. Kudos to Disney for being proactive in anticipating what lengths some people will go to spoil kid fun.
The concept of the game is not different than any other MMOG like EverQuest, Final Fantasy etc. You are given quests to complete for jellybeans (money), gags (weapons) and laff boosts (strength). The only difference is that this game is designed for children.
It is well worth the $10 a month and the game is always expanding. Since I have been playing there have been 2 major updates and a 3rd is scheduled for sometime in April or May, giving toons an additional neighborhood/Cog HQ to play in with new tasks and rewards.
Happy Tooning.

The book is divided into Sections.
Section 1 deals in the basics for the novice of getting online, choosing ISPs, computer hardware, printers etc. This will be basic for most online traders, but as the author says, it can be skipped by those already 'up to speed'.
Personally, I would have prefered this section at the end. The final chapter(8) of Section 1 offers some interesting tips on speeding up access to the internet - which strictly do not fall into the field of Trading Online, but are appreciated.
Section 2 "The Road to Profit" represents the start of the book proper in my opinion. The section begins with an introduction to action plans. At first I was doubtful if this method of organisation would work, however, having tried them it does tend to provide a useful framework for trading.
These action plans, are composed of 7 steps, each necessary for trading online. The steps include price data, fundamental analysis, technical analysis, broker execution methods, portfolio monitoring etc. The book explains the importance of each, and for the important step of analysis for determining likely price moves, the book details some strategies and systems.
Having explained the significance of eaxh step and how it relates to each further step, the book moves on to Section 3, which is a list of recommended sites for each of the steps. The sites listed here are cross-referenced to Section 4 of the book, where they are grouped according to whether they are online brokerages, Mutual Fund Sites, Technical Analysis sites etc.
The idea behind Section 3 is that you go through each step, say for example Step 3 (Analysis) choosing the sites you think are worth visiting by looking at their description, review and summary of contents provided in the book. You then settle on the core sites for each Step, and stick to them each time you trade. As I have said, how best to use the sites as part of your overall plan is well explained.
At first I was a little sceptical of whether this would work, and admittedly it helped when I photocopied the action plans. This then meant that a lot of the hard work had been done for the reader.
The sites covered in Section 4 are quite exhaustive, but the book makes it clear, only sites considered worth visiting, in the opinion of the author, are listed. Sites are listed under, 'a little bit of everything', 'technical analysis sites', 'Brokerage sites', 'Mutual Funds', 'Futures and Options', 'Exchanges', 'Bonds', 'Forex', 'Options Analysis', 'Gurus and Newsletters', 'Discussion Forums', 'E-Zines'.
As one would expect stock traders are given the most space and are catered for best, and one complain.
Section 5 is the end-part of the book, and is aimed at further research. 3 chapters cover the issue of using Search Engines properly, Financial Directories and Online Bookstores.
There are a plethora of appendices covering tech analysis, fundamental analysis, options and futures. I take issue with some of the books in the recommended reading list, in that I definately disagree on some of the recommendations, but that is not a critical issue. For good measure there is a glossary and index.
The graphics and layout are very good, in that the font is easy on the eye, the layout helpful - with a side bar for comments, lots of screen dumps etc. The nature of trading books seems to be following those of internet books generally in design and that is no bad thing.
All in all very useful

If you want to begin investing into securities and bonds you must, at the very least, understand the fundamentals (the in's and out's, terms, and where to begin). The book teaches you those things and more. It not only teaches you how to value stocks, bonds and mutual funds, and how to find ones that fit your investment needs, but also the simple things like setting up a brokerage account, making the purchase, and managing your portfolio.
I had to purchase the book for a class, and just like any class I was somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of information I had to cram into 8 weeks. However, as a more seasoned investor, I still revert back to the book for terms, equations for valuations, and even references for useful websites. If you are interested in investing but are not in college, I would recommend buying this textbook. It is expensive, so try to purchase it used.

I find that this Gameboy game gives a good translation of the Pokemon CCG mechanics. While it does feature some cards that aren't available in the real card game, it does capture many of the elements quite well.
I like how each win is rewarded with booster "packs" of cards - allowing you to build more decks. Sometimes you need to play opponent's more than once but it is a good way to work out the kinks in your own deck.
I also like that it allows you to build and save decks of your own, as well as to build the decks that you faced at each of the various game centers.
I only gave it four stars because, like any game you play against a computerized opponent, your opponent's can only "think" and "play" under preset rules. A living opponent would prove more of a challenge. Then again, find a friend with their Gameboy and a copy of the game and a cable link AND then you can battle a living breathing opponent.
It sure is cheaper than hunting down the cards. If only they'd expand this in a future version with more of the game cards (more stuff from Fossil, Jungle, Team Rocket )

If I had read the author's previous book, I wouldn't have bothered with this one. If I had read the reviews of that book, I probably would have skipped this one.
Assuming you accept the author's premise that intermarket analysis is something forex traders cannot do without, you might still have trouble accepting the solution: Buy Mendelsohn's product, Vantage Point.
I went to the Vantage Point website. No price is given for the product, so I assume it costs a fortune. Maybe that's not so bad if it's really picking 70%+ winners on a regular basis. Still, even if I were won over by the sales pitches on the site and in this book, for all I know, the hundreds or thousands of dollars I spent on the Vantage Point software might eat up most of my profits.
I give the book three stars because it held my interest and didn't cost too much. Of course, if you find the book truly worthless, then any price is too much. I give the book a mild recommendation, but if you don't read it, you won't miss much.

Barry Johnson's book is a great introduction to electronic and algorithmic trading. The book is so well written that you will find yourself reading it like a novel. The contents are well chosen and the chapters are fairly balanced in terms of length and importance.
The approach used in the book is very pedagogic. The author illustrates each and every trading strategy with an example and a figure, which permits to clearly grasp the motivation, the intuition and the ideas behind each trading scenario. He takes a good time explaining the variables that determine prices, liquidity, market impact and volatility. He also provides a lot of references for the readers willing to go deeper on a specific topic, and the summaries at the end of each chapter are an excellent addition.
In my opinion it is far better to understand the mechanisms of trading in today's electronic environment than just learning ready-to-use recipes. It is indeed the ignorant use of financial instruments that is at the genesis of the current crisis. Therefore, the author has my full admiration and support because he manages to provide a full understanding and grounding of algorithmic trading.
However, I have to put only 4 stars for the following reasons.
Algorithmic trading is crucial today not only because it is far more reactive than human traders, but also because it can predict and exploit trading patterns more accurately. Unfortunately, the book only has a subsection on forecasting market conditions and short-term prediction of prices, trading volume and volatility. Each one of these topics deserves a full chapter because they are the main reason why we are switching from human trading to algorithmic trading.
Another topic that is crucial for algorithmic trading is arbitrage. Again, the book falls short, just adding a subsection on the topic. Moreover, the author cites a result that seems to show that implied volatility is a more accurate measure than statistical volatility such as GARCH. The empirical evidence says the contrary, i. e. that GARCH and other volatility measures like bipower variation predict better than implied volatility, in particular for high frequency data. This feature is in fact exploited by quantitative hedge funds and proprietary trading desks.
The author also skips the stylized facts from the empirical analysis of financial time series: returns are not normal and exhibit high peaks, fat tails, auto-correlation and volatility clustering. It is the evidence of these facts and the necessity to understand and control them that has given to Finance the mathematical and computational trend it currently has.
My suggestions for mathematical references are the following classic books:
******************
EDIT Nov 23, 2013

Concerning references on market microstructure with other flavours than mathematics and computer science, I would recommend the following two classics:
For a trader's point of view, L. Harris Trading and Exchanges: Market Microstructure for Practitioners. It takes you to the basics, from brokers to traders to Limit Orders to Market Orders to market-makers to electronic markets. I would recommend to read this book before Barry Johnson's.
For an economist's point of view, M. O'Hara Market Microstructure Theory. It does explain in detail several classical models based on inventory risk and asymmetry of information.

This book succeeds in giving every new trader and failing trader the information they need to become successfull. It's a great point to start to learn about the world of forex trading. If I had had this book 5 year ago I would be in a better place now. By the way I also noticed Zan also produces a.
By the way I also noticed Zan also produces a weekly video on youtube on what to look for in the week ahead. Again very simply explained.
I keep this book for reference when I trade to remind me of things I should and should NOT be doing.

The Book on Forex Trading is a very easy book to read and is the only forex trading book I’ve come across that is in full colour. This makes the chart diagrams very easy to understand compared to other forex books out there. It surprised me that the book was not more expensive because it is.

This makes the chart diagrams very easy to understand compared to other forex books out there. It surprised me that the book was not more expensive because it is obviously not cheap to print being a hard copy book in full colour.
I like the author Stephen Margison’s frankness about the forex trading industry, especially his quote, “when your trade wins the brokers wins; when your trade loses, the broker wins!” I also admire his ability to explain what could be difficult concepts easily.
It is a book about how to make money trading forex, not a book on theory. Therein lies the difference between this excellent book and others I’ve read. The author is focussed on teaching the reader how to make money trading forex not how to read and interpret endless chart patterns.
All in all it is an excellent book on forex trading and I highly recommend it!

I have started studying trading about three years ago and Forex specifically for about a year. I find Raghee to be honest and her methods to be simple and I can see how they would work if followed. I myself use Fibonacci levels and MACD and find that they work after a fashion like everything else in.

I myself use Fibonacci levels and MACD and find that they work after a fashion like everything else in trading.
I find it refreshing that Raghee does not try to hype anything in her book (she doesn't even try to sell her indicators). She does like eSignal which is understandable.
The key to any system is that you have to give it time to work. It is very probable to get a string of losses, at which point most traders switch systems. This would be a big mistake. Any trading system must be evaluated over a period of time to get consistent results.
All that said, this book needs a good editor. While the initial chapters are a good introduction, it is not always clear what Raghee is talking about. For example, it would be nice to have a clock face next to the chart to indicate the trend. I can't always see the trend that she is talking about. I am not sure whether she's refering to the right edge or the candles leading upto the right edge. Sometimes she seems to lose her train of thought.
It would have been nice to have a position chart at the end of each day. While she identifies entry, exit, and stop on the chart, I am not sure which position that she took. This may have prompted the previous reviwer to conclude that she is not a trader. As it is you have to really read this book with a pen and paper to figure out what trades to take (may not be a bad thing). Raghee, if you read this, you may want to post the trades that you took during this period on your web site. That will go a long way towards validating your method.
Overall, I find this book useful.
